Objective
To maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic art room environment in the aged care facility, ensuring compliance with Australian cleaning standards and infection control guidelines.
Scope of Work
- Dust all surfaces including tables, chairs, and shelves.
- Sanitise all high-touch areas such as door handles, light switches, and art supplies.
- Vacuum carpeted areas and mop hard floors.
- Clean and sanitise sinks and surrounding areas.
- Empty and sanitise rubbish bins.
- Ensure all cleaning activities comply with infection control standards.
Method
- Begin by dusting all surfaces using a microfibre cloth to capture dust and allergens.
- Sanitise high-touch areas with an approved disinfectant, ensuring contact time as per manufacturer's instructions.
- Vacuum carpeted areas using a HEPA-filter vacuum cleaner to minimise dust and allergens.
- Mop hard floors with a neutral pH cleaner, ensuring no residue is left.
- Clean sinks with a non-abrasive cleaner, ensuring all soap scum and stains are removed.
- Empty rubbish bins, replace liners, and sanitise the bin interior and exterior.

Quality Criteria
Performance Level | Criteria |

Good | Surfaces are mostly clean with minimal dust. High-touch areas are sanitised. Floors are clean with slight residue. Sinks are clean with minor soap scum. Bins are empty and clean. |
Pass | Surfaces have some dust. High-touch areas are mostly sanitised. Floors are mostly clean with visible residue. Sinks have some soap scum. Bins are empty but not fully clean. |
Fail | Surfaces are dusty and stained. High-touch areas are not sanitised. Floors are dirty with visible residue. Sinks are dirty with soap scum. Bins are full or dirty. |
Documentation
- Cleaning Checklist: Digital or paper checklist to verify completion of all cleaning tasks
- Incident Reports: Documentation of any cleaning-related incidents, spills, or issues encountered
- Maintenance Records: Record any maintenance needs identified during cleaning (for reporting to maintenance team)
