Objective
Ensure the fitness equipment area in the aged care facility is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene to promote a safe and healthy environment for residents.
Scope of Work
- Clean and sanitize all fitness equipment surfaces.
- Dust and wipe down all accessible surfaces, including shelves and ledges.
- Vacuum and mop flooring to remove dust and debris.
- Sanitize high-touch areas such as handles, buttons, and screens.
- Empty and sanitize waste bins.
- Ensure all cleaning products are used according to manufacturer instructions and safety data sheets.
Method
- Begin by removing any visible debris from the floor and equipment surfaces.
- Dust all surfaces using microfiber cloths to capture dust particles.
- Vacuum the floor thoroughly, paying special attention to corners and under equipment.
- Use a disinfectant solution to wipe down all equipment surfaces, ensuring all high-touch areas are sanitized.
- Mop the floor with a suitable cleaning solution, ensuring no residue is left behind.
- Empty waste bins and replace liners, then sanitize the bin surfaces.

Quality Criteria

| Pass | Noticeable dust or smudges on less than 10% of surfaces. Floors have some residue. Equipment is sanitized but may have minor visible contamination. Waste bins are mostly empty. |
| Fail | Visible dust, dirt, or smudges on more than 10% of surfaces. Floors have significant residue. Equipment is not properly sanitized, with visible contamination. Waste bins are not emptied or sanitized. |
Documentation
- Cleaning Checklist: Digital or paper checklist to verify completion of all cleaning tasks
- Incident Reports: Documentation of any cleaning-related incidents, spills, or issues encountered
- Maintenance Records: Record any maintenance needs identified during cleaning (for reporting to maintenance team)
- Photos: Before and after photos as requested to document cleaning completion and quality
