Objective
Ensure the treatment room in the aged care facility is cleaned to the highest standards to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for residents and staff.
Scope of Work
- Dust all horizontal surfaces including countertops, shelves, and equipment.
- Sanitize all high-touch surfaces such as door handles, light switches, and treatment tables.
- Vacuum all carpeted areas and rugs.
- Mop all hard floor surfaces with a disinfectant solution.
- Wipe down all furniture and fixtures with appropriate cleaning agents.
- Empty and sanitize waste bins and replace liners.
- Clean and disinfect sinks and faucets.
- Ensure all cleaning activities are documented and logged.
Method
- Begin by dusting all horizontal surfaces using a microfiber cloth to capture dust particles.
- Apply a hospital-grade disinfectant to all high-touch surfaces and allow appropriate contact time before wiping clean.
- Use a HEPA-filter vacuum cleaner to vacuum all carpeted areas, ensuring corners and edges are thoroughly cleaned.
- Mop hard floors using a two-bucket system to prevent cross-contamination, ensuring the use of a disinfectant solution.
- Wipe down furniture and fixtures with a damp cloth and suitable cleaning agent, ensuring no residue is left behind.
- Empty waste bins, sanitize the interior and exterior, and replace with new liners.
- Clean sinks and faucets with a non-abrasive cleaner, ensuring all soap scum and mineral deposits are removed.
- Complete a cleaning checklist to ensure all tasks are performed and documented.

Pass | Basic cleaning completed, surfaces generally clean but may have some minor dust or marks. Acceptable standard for routine operations. |
Fail | Visible dirt, stains, or debris present. Unacceptable odors or untidy appearance. Cleaning tasks incomplete or inadequate. Requires immediate re-cleaning. |
Documentation
- Cleaning Checklist: Digital or paper checklist to verify completion of all cleaning tasks
- Incident Reports: Documentation of any cleaning-related incidents, spills, or issues encountered
- Maintenance Records: Record any maintenance needs identified during cleaning (for reporting to maintenance team)
- Photos: Before and after photos as requested to document cleaning completion and quality
