Objective
To maintain a clean, hygienic, and safe IT Equipment Room in an education facility, ensuring compliance with Australian cleaning standards and workplace health and safety requirements.
Scope of Work
- Dusting of all surfaces including desks, shelves, and equipment.
- Sanitising of high-touch areas such as keyboards, mice, and door handles.
- Vacuuming of floors to remove dust and debris.
- Wiping down of external surfaces of IT equipment with appropriate cleaning agents.
- Emptying and sanitising of rubbish bins.
- Inspection and cleaning of air vents and filters to ensure dust-free environment.
Method
- Prepare the cleaning trolley with all necessary equipment and cleaning agents, ensuring colour-coded cloths are used for different surfaces.
- Begin by dusting all surfaces using a microfibre cloth to capture dust particles effectively.
- Sanitise high-touch areas using a disinfectant spray and a clean cloth, ensuring all surfaces are visibly wet for the required contact time.
- Vacuum the floor using a HEPA-filter vacuum cleaner to minimise airborne dust.
- Wipe down external surfaces of IT equipment with an anti-static cleaner to prevent damage.
- Empty rubbish bins, replace liners, and sanitise the bin surfaces.
- Inspect air vents and filters, clean with a vacuum or damp cloth as necessary.

Fail | Significant dust accumulation; high-touch areas not sanitised; floors are dirty; strong odours present; air vents are clogged. |
Documentation
- Cleaning Checklist: Digital or paper checklist to verify completion of all cleaning tasks

- Maintenance Records: Record any maintenance needs identified during cleaning (for reporting to maintenance team)
