Objective
To ensure the playground area within the hospitality facility is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for all users.
Scope of Work
- Sanitising all play equipment surfaces, including slides, swings, and climbing frames.
- Wiping down benches, tables, and seating areas.
- Vacuuming and mopping all rubber and soft-fall surfaces.
- Emptying and sanitising rubbish bins.
- Dusting and wiping all signage and information boards.
- Cleaning and sanitising drinking fountains and taps.
- Ensuring all pathways and entry points are free from debris and litter.
Method
- Use a colour-coded cleaning system to prevent cross-contamination.
- Begin by removing all visible debris and litter from the area.
- Sanitise all play equipment using a suitable disinfectant, ensuring all surfaces are thoroughly wiped.
- Vacuum and mop all flooring surfaces, paying special attention to high-traffic areas.
- Empty rubbish bins and replace liners, ensuring bins are sanitised before replacing.
- Wipe down all seating and table surfaces with a disinfectant solution.
- Clean and sanitise drinking fountains and taps, ensuring no residue is left.
- Conduct a final inspection to ensure all areas meet the quality criteria.

Quality Criteria
Performance Level | Criteria |

Excellent | All surfaces are visibly clean and free from dirt, dust, and debris. No odours present. All equipment is sanitised and dry. Rubbish bins are empty and sanitised. Drinking fountains are spotless and operational. |
Good | Minor traces of dust or debris on non-essential surfaces. No strong odours. Equipment is mostly sanitised. Rubbish bins are empty but may have minor residue. Drinking fountains are clean with minor water spots. |
Pass | Visible dust or debris on some surfaces. Mild odours present. Equipment is partially sanitised. Rubbish bins are not overflowing but have visible residue. Drinking fountains have water spots and minor residue. |
Fail | Significant dirt, dust, or debris on surfaces. Strong odours present. Equipment is not sanitised. Rubbish bins are overflowing or unsanitised. Drinking fountains are dirty or non-operational. |
Documentation
- Cleaning Checklist: Digital or paper checklist to verify completion of all cleaning tasks
- Incident Reports: Documentation of any cleaning-related incidents, spills, or issues encountered
- Maintenance Records: Record any maintenance needs identified during cleaning (for reporting to maintenance team)
- Photos: Before and after photos as requested to document cleaning completion and quality
