Objective

Ensure the ambulance bay is cleaned to the highest standards to maintain a safe and hygienic environment, minimising infection risks and ensuring compliance with Australian healthcare cleaning standards.

Scope of Work
  • Remove all rubbish and dispose of it in designated rubbish bins.
  • Sanitise all high-touch surfaces including door handles, light switches, and railings.
  • Clean and mop the floor with a disinfectant solution.
  • Wipe down walls and surfaces to remove any visible dirt or stains.
  • Ensure all cleaning is performed using a colour-coded cleaning system to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Check and refill hand sanitiser dispensers as needed.
  • Ensure all cleaning supplies and equipment are stored safely and securely after use.
Method
  1. Begin by donning appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves and masks.
  2. Collect all rubbish and dispose of it in the designated bins.
  3. Use a colour-coded cloth to wipe down all high-touch surfaces with a hospital-grade disinfectant.
  4. Prepare a mop bucket with a disinfectant solution and mop the entire floor area, ensuring to reach all corners.
  5. Use a separate colour-coded cloth to clean walls and other surfaces, ensuring no cross-contamination occurs.
  6. Check hand sanitiser dispensers and refill as necessary.
  7. Inspect the area to ensure all tasks have been completed to the required standard.
  8. Store all cleaning equipment and supplies in the designated storage area.
