Objective
Ensure the CT Scan Room is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene, minimising infection risks and ensuring a safe environment for patients and staff.
Scope of Work
- Dust all horizontal and vertical surfaces, including equipment and ledges.
- Sanitise all high-touch surfaces such as door handles, light switches, and control panels.
- Vacuum and mop floors using a colour-coded system to prevent cross-contamination.
- Empty and sanitise rubbish bins, replacing liners as needed.
- Clean and sanitise the CT scanner exterior, ensuring no residue or marks remain.
- Inspect and clean air vents and grilles to ensure dust-free operation.
- Ensure all cleaning activities comply with Australian infection control guidelines.
Method
- Prepare the cleaning trolley with appropriate colour-coded cloths and mops.
- Dust all surfaces using a microfibre cloth, starting from the highest point and working downwards.
- Sanitise high-touch areas with a hospital-grade disinfectant, allowing appropriate contact time.
- Vacuum the floor using a HEPA-filter vacuum cleaner to capture fine particles.
- Mop the floor with a damp mop, using a neutral detergent, and allow to air dry.
- Dispose of rubbish and replace bin liners, ensuring bins are sanitised.
- Inspect and clean air vents with a damp cloth to remove dust build-up.

Pass | Noticeable dust on some surfaces. High-touch areas are sanitised but with visible residue. Floors have visible streaks. Air vents have visible dust. Mild odours present. |
Fail | Significant dust accumulation. High-touch areas not sanitised. Floors are dirty with visible marks. Air vents clogged with dust. Strong odours present. |
Documentation
- Cleaning Checklist: Digital or paper checklist to verify completion of all cleaning tasks
- Incident Reports: Documentation of any cleaning-related incidents, spills, or issues encountered
- Maintenance Records: Record any maintenance needs identified during cleaning (for reporting to maintenance team)
- Photos: Before and after photos as requested to document cleaning completion and quality
