Objective

Ensure the highest level of cleanliness and infection control in the ICU room of a healthcare facility, adhering to Australian cleaning standards and practices.

Scope of Work
  • Dust all horizontal and vertical surfaces, including equipment and fixtures.
  • Sanitise all high-touch surfaces, including bed rails, light switches, and door handles.
  • Clean and disinfect floors using appropriate mopping techniques.
  • Empty and sanitise rubbish bins, replacing liners as needed.
  • Clean and sanitise bathroom facilities, including toilets, sinks, and taps.
  • Ensure all cleaning is performed using colour-coded cleaning systems to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Inspect and clean air vents and grilles to maintain air quality.
  • Ensure all cleaning products are used according to manufacturer instructions and safety data sheets.
Method
  1. Prepare cleaning trolley with appropriate colour-coded cloths, mops, and cleaning agents.
  2. Begin by dusting all surfaces from high to low, using a damp cloth to capture dust particles.
  3. Sanitise high-touch areas with hospital-grade disinfectant, allowing appropriate contact time.
  4. Vacuum or sweep floor to remove debris before mopping.
  5. Mop floor using a two-bucket system to prevent cross-contamination, ensuring floor is dry and free of streaks.
  6. Clean bathroom facilities, ensuring all surfaces are disinfected and free of stains and odours.
  7. Dispose of waste in designated bins, ensuring liners are replaced and bins are sanitised.
  8. Conduct a final inspection to ensure all areas meet cleanliness standards.

PassSurfaces have some dust and marks. High-touch areas are inconsistently sanitised. Floors have visible streaks. Mild odours present. Air vents have visible dust. Waste bins are not fully emptied or sanitised.
FailSurfaces are visibly dirty with dust and stains. High-touch areas are not sanitised. Floors are dirty with streaks and debris. Strong odours present. Air vents are clogged with dust. Waste bins are full and unsanitised.
