Objective

Ensure the highest level of cleanliness and infection control in the Nuclear Medicine space of a healthcare facility, adhering to Australian standards and guidelines.

Scope of Work
  • Sanitising all surfaces including benches, equipment, and high-touch areas.
  • Dusting and wiping all horizontal and vertical surfaces.
  • Vacuuming and mopping floors with appropriate disinfectants.
  • Emptying and sanitising rubbish bins.
  • Cleaning and sanitising sinks and taps.
  • Ensuring all cleaning activities comply with infection control protocols.
Method
  1. Prepare the cleaning trolley with colour-coded cleaning cloths and appropriate disinfectants.
  2. Dust all surfaces using a damp microfibre cloth to minimise airborne particles.
  3. Sanitise all high-touch areas including door handles, light switches, and equipment controls.
  4. Vacuum floors using a HEPA-filter vacuum cleaner to capture fine particles.
  5. Mop floors with a hospital-grade disinfectant, ensuring no residue is left.
  6. Empty rubbish bins, replace liners, and sanitise the bin interior and exterior.
  7. Clean sinks and taps with a non-abrasive cleaner and sanitise thoroughly.

FailSurfaces are visibly dirty with dust and smudges. Floors are dirty with significant residue. Strong odours present. High-touch areas are not sanitised. Infection control protocols are not followed or documented.
