Objective

Ensure the main kitchen in the aged care facility is maintained at the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene to prevent contamination and ensure the safety and well-being of residents and staff.

Scope of Work
  • Clean and sanitize all food preparation surfaces.
  • Wipe down and sanitize all kitchen equipment exteriors.
  • Clean and sanitize sinks and faucets.
  • Mop and sanitize floors.
  • Dust and wipe all high-touch surfaces, including handles and switches.
  • Empty and sanitize waste bins.
  • Clean and sanitize refrigerator and freezer exteriors.
  • Wipe down and sanitize walls and splashbacks.
  • Clean and sanitize storage areas and shelves.
Method
  1. Remove all loose debris from surfaces and floors.
  2. Apply appropriate cleaning agents to surfaces and allow dwell time as per manufacturer's instructions.
  3. Scrub surfaces with non-abrasive pads or brushes.
  4. Rinse surfaces with clean water and dry with clean cloths.
  5. Apply sanitizing solution to all surfaces and allow to air dry.
  6. Mop floors with a disinfectant solution, ensuring no pooling of water.
  7. Use microfiber cloths for dusting and wiping to ensure maximum particle removal.
  8. Ensure all waste is disposed of in accordance with facility waste management protocols.

Quality Criteria
ExcellentAll surfaces visibly clean, no dust, stains, or debris. Pleasant appearance with no odors. All cleaning tasks completed to highest standard.
GoodMost surfaces clean with minimal dust or minor marks. Generally tidy appearance. All major cleaning tasks completed satisfactorily.
PassBasic cleaning completed, surfaces generally clean but may have some minor dust or marks. Acceptable standard for routine operations.
FailVisible dirt, stains, or debris present. Unacceptable odors or untidy appearance. Cleaning tasks incomplete or inadequate. Requires immediate re-cleaning.
Documentation
  • Cleaning Checklist: Digital or paper checklist to verify completion of all cleaning tasks
  • Incident Reports: Documentation of any cleaning-related incidents, spills, or issues encountered
  • Maintenance Records: Record any maintenance needs identified during cleaning (for reporting to maintenance team)
  • Photos: Before and after photos as requested to document cleaning completion and quality
