Objective

Ensure a clean, hygienic, and safe environment in the podiatry room of an aged care facility.

Scope of Work
  • Dust all horizontal surfaces including countertops, shelves, and equipment.
  • Sanitize all high-touch surfaces such as door handles, light switches, and treatment chairs.
  • Vacuum all carpeted areas and rugs.
  • Mop all hard floor surfaces with a disinfectant solution.
  • Wipe down all podiatry equipment with approved disinfectant wipes.
  • Empty and sanitize waste bins.
  • Clean and sanitize sinks and faucets.
  • Ensure all cleaning supplies are stored properly after use.
Method
  1. Begin by dusting all horizontal surfaces using a microfiber cloth to capture dust effectively.
  2. Apply a disinfectant solution to all high-touch surfaces and allow the appropriate contact time before wiping clean.
  3. Use a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter to vacuum all carpeted areas and rugs thoroughly.
  4. Mop hard floors using a two-bucket system to prevent cross-contamination, ensuring the use of a disinfectant solution.
  5. Wipe down all podiatry equipment with disinfectant wipes, ensuring all surfaces are covered.
  6. Empty waste bins, replace liners, and sanitize the interior and exterior of the bins.
  7. Clean sinks and faucets using a non-abrasive cleaner and disinfectant.
  8. Store all cleaning supplies in designated storage areas, ensuring they are labeled and sealed properly.

Documentation
  • Cleaning Checklist: Digital or paper checklist to verify completion of all cleaning tasks
  • Incident Reports: Documentation of any cleaning-related incidents, spills, or issues encountered
  • Maintenance Records: Record any maintenance needs identified during cleaning (for reporting to maintenance team)
  • Photos: Before and after photos as requested to document cleaning completion and quality
