Objective
Ensure the vegetable garden area in the aged care facility is maintained to the highest cleanliness standards to promote a safe and healthy environment for residents.
Scope of Work
- Remove all visible debris and litter from garden paths and surrounding areas.
- Sanitize garden benches and seating areas.
- Dust and wipe down all garden signage and information boards.
- Clean and sanitize any outdoor tables and surfaces.
- Ensure all pathways are free from dirt and organic matter.
- Regularly check and clean any water features to prevent algae growth.
Method
- Begin by collecting all visible debris and litter using appropriate waste collection tools.
- Use a damp cloth with a suitable disinfectant to wipe down benches, tables, and signage.
- Utilize a broom or blower to clear pathways of dirt and organic matter.
- Apply a non-toxic, environmentally friendly sanitizer to all seating and table surfaces.
- Inspect water features and clean using a brush and algae remover as necessary.

Quality Criteria
Excellent | All surfaces visibly clean, no dust, stains, or debris. Pleasant appearance with no odors. All cleaning tasks completed to highest standard. |
Good | Most surfaces clean with minimal dust or minor marks. Generally tidy appearance. All major cleaning tasks completed satisfactorily. |
Pass | Basic cleaning completed, surfaces generally clean but may have some minor dust or marks. Acceptable standard for routine operations. |
Fail | Visible dirt, stains, or debris present. Unacceptable odors or untidy appearance. Cleaning tasks incomplete or inadequate. Requires immediate re-cleaning. |
Documentation
- Cleaning Checklist: Digital or paper checklist to verify completion of all cleaning tasks
- Incident Reports: Documentation of any cleaning-related incidents, spills, or issues encountered
- Maintenance Records: Record any maintenance needs identified during cleaning (for reporting to maintenance team)
- Photos: Before and after photos as requested to document cleaning completion and quality
