Objective
To ensure the playground area of the education facility is clean, safe, and hygienic for all users, adhering to Australian cleaning standards and workplace health and safety requirements.
Scope of Work
- Remove all rubbish and debris from the playground area.
- Sanitise all play equipment, including swings, slides, and climbing structures.
- Sweep and mop hard surfaces, ensuring they are free from dirt and stains.
- Inspect and clean all seating areas and tables.
- Check and clean rubbish bins, replacing liners as necessary.
- Ensure all surfaces are free from graffiti and other markings.
- Maintain cleanliness of surrounding landscaping, removing any litter.
Method
- Begin by collecting all visible rubbish and debris, placing it in the appropriate rubbish bins.
- Use a colour-coded cleaning system to sanitise play equipment, ensuring all surfaces are thoroughly wiped down with a suitable disinfectant.
- Sweep all hard surfaces to remove loose dirt and debris.
- Mop hard surfaces using a neutral pH cleaner, ensuring no residue is left behind.
- Wipe down all seating and table surfaces with a disinfectant solution.
- Inspect rubbish bins, empty as needed, and replace liners.
- Use a graffiti remover to clean any markings on surfaces.
- Conduct a final inspection to ensure all areas meet cleanliness standards.

Quality Criteria
Performance Level | Criteria |

Excellent | All surfaces are spotless, equipment is fully sanitised, no rubbish or debris present, and all bins are empty with fresh liners. |
Good | Minor dirt or marks on surfaces, equipment is mostly sanitised, minimal rubbish present, and bins are mostly empty with liners replaced. |
Pass | Noticeable dirt or marks on surfaces, equipment is partially sanitised, some rubbish present, and bins are not overflowing but liners may not be replaced. |
Fail | Significant dirt or marks on surfaces, equipment is not sanitised, rubbish is present, and bins are overflowing without liner replacement. |
Documentation
- Cleaning Checklist: Digital or paper checklist to verify completion of all cleaning tasks
- Incident Reports: Documentation of any cleaning-related incidents, spills, or issues encountered
