Objective

To ensure the play room in the government building is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all users.

Scope of Work
  • Dust all surfaces including shelves, tables, and play equipment.
  • Vacuum all carpeted areas and rugs.
  • Mop hard floors using a colour-coded system to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Sanitise all high-touch surfaces such as door handles, light switches, and play equipment.
  • Empty and clean rubbish bins, replacing liners as needed.
  • Clean and sanitise any sinks and taps.
  • Ensure all cleaning activities adhere to Australian workplace health and safety requirements.
Method
  1. Begin by dusting all surfaces using a microfibre cloth to capture dust and allergens.
  2. Vacuum carpeted areas using a HEPA-filter vacuum cleaner to ensure dust and allergens are effectively removed.
  3. Mop hard floors with a neutral pH cleaner, using a colour-coded mop head specific to the play area.
  4. Sanitise high-touch surfaces with a hospital-grade disinfectant, ensuring contact time as per manufacturer's instructions.
  5. Empty rubbish bins, clean with a disinfectant wipe, and replace liners.
  6. Clean sinks and taps with a non-abrasive cleaner, ensuring all soap scum and water marks are removed.

PassSurfaces have some dust or marks. Floors have visible streaks or residue. High-touch surfaces are sanitised but may have visible smudges. Rubbish bins are empty but may have slight odours.
FailSurfaces are visibly dusty or dirty. Floors have significant streaks or residue. High-touch surfaces are not sanitised. Rubbish bins are full or have strong odours.
Documentation
  • Cleaning Checklist: Digital or paper checklist to verify completion of all cleaning tasks
  • Incident Reports: Documentation of any cleaning-related incidents, spills, or issues encountered
  • Maintenance Records: Record any maintenance needs identified during cleaning (for reporting to maintenance team)
