Objective
To ensure the play room in the government building is maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all users.
Scope of Work
- Dust all surfaces including shelves, tables, and play equipment.
- Vacuum all carpeted areas and rugs.
- Mop hard floors using a colour-coded system to prevent cross-contamination.
- Sanitise all high-touch surfaces such as door handles, light switches, and play equipment.
- Empty and clean rubbish bins, replacing liners as needed.
- Clean and sanitise any sinks and taps.
- Ensure all cleaning activities adhere to Australian workplace health and safety requirements.
Method
- Begin by dusting all surfaces using a microfibre cloth to capture dust and allergens.
- Vacuum carpeted areas using a HEPA-filter vacuum cleaner to ensure dust and allergens are effectively removed.
- Mop hard floors with a neutral pH cleaner, using a colour-coded mop head specific to the play area.
- Sanitise high-touch surfaces with a hospital-grade disinfectant, ensuring contact time as per manufacturer's instructions.
- Empty rubbish bins, clean with a disinfectant wipe, and replace liners.
- Clean sinks and taps with a non-abrasive cleaner, ensuring all soap scum and water marks are removed.

Quality Criteria
Performance Level | Criteria |

Excellent | All surfaces are visibly clean and free from dust, dirt, and marks. Floors are spotless with no streaks or residue. High-touch surfaces are sanitised and free from smudges. No rubbish or odours present. |
Good | Surfaces are mostly clean with minor dust or marks. Floors are clean with minimal streaks. High-touch surfaces are sanitised with minor smudges. Rubbish bins are empty with no odours. |
Pass | Surfaces have some dust or marks. Floors have visible streaks or residue. High-touch surfaces are sanitised but may have visible smudges. Rubbish bins are empty but may have slight odours. |
Fail | Surfaces are visibly dusty or dirty. Floors have significant streaks or residue. High-touch surfaces are not sanitised. Rubbish bins are full or have strong odours. |
Documentation
- Cleaning Checklist: Digital or paper checklist to verify completion of all cleaning tasks
