Objective

Ensure the autoclave room in the healthcare facility is maintained to the highest cleanliness standards to prevent infection and ensure compliance with Australian health and safety regulations.

Scope of Work
  • Dust all surfaces including shelves, ledges, and equipment.
  • Sanitise all high-touch surfaces such as door handles, light switches, and control panels.
  • Clean and mop floors using a colour-coded system to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Empty and sanitise rubbish bins.
  • Wipe down walls and doors to remove any marks or stains.
  • Ensure all cleaning equipment is cleaned and stored correctly after use.
Method
  1. Begin by donning appropriate PPE as per facility guidelines.
  2. Use a microfibre cloth to dust all surfaces, starting from the highest point and working downwards.
  3. Apply a hospital-grade disinfectant to all high-touch surfaces and allow appropriate contact time before wiping clean.
  4. Use a mop with a colour-coded head to clean the floor, ensuring all corners and edges are reached.
  5. Empty rubbish bins, replace liners, and sanitise the bin interior and exterior.
  6. Wipe down walls and doors with a disinfectant solution, focusing on areas with visible marks.
  7. Inspect the area to ensure all tasks are completed to standard and remove PPE safely.
