Objective

Ensure the highest level of cleanliness and infection control in the negative pressure room of a healthcare facility, adhering to Australian cleaning standards and infection prevention guidelines.

Scope of Work
  • Thorough cleaning and sanitising of all surfaces, including walls, floors, and ceilings.
  • Dusting and wiping of all horizontal and vertical surfaces, including ledges, windowsills, and equipment.
  • Vacuuming of all soft furnishings and flooring with HEPA-filtered equipment.
  • Mopping of hard floors with appropriate disinfectant solutions.
  • Cleaning and sanitising of all high-touch areas, such as door handles, light switches, and taps.
  • Emptying and sanitising of rubbish bins.
  • Ensuring all cleaning activities comply with infection control protocols.
Method
  1. Prepare the area by donning appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and setting up a colour-coded cleaning trolley.
  2. Dust and wipe all surfaces using microfibre cloths and approved disinfectants, starting from the highest points and working downwards.
  3. Vacuum all soft furnishings and flooring using a HEPA-filtered vacuum cleaner to minimise airborne particles.
  4. Mop hard floors with a disinfectant solution, ensuring even coverage and allowing adequate contact time for effective sanitisation.
  5. Focus on high-touch areas, applying additional disinfectant and ensuring thorough cleaning.
  6. Empty rubbish bins, replace liners, and sanitise the bin surfaces.
  7. Conduct a final inspection to ensure all areas meet the required cleanliness standards.
