Objective

Ensure the water treatment area in the healthcare facility is cleaned to the highest standards to prevent contamination and maintain a safe environment for staff and patients.

Scope of Work
  • Dust all surfaces, including equipment and shelving.
  • Sanitise all high-touch surfaces, including taps, handles, and control panels.
  • Mop floors with a disinfectant solution.
  • Empty and sanitise rubbish bins.
  • Clean and sanitise sinks and surrounding areas.
  • Ensure all cleaning is performed using a colour-coded system to prevent cross-contamination.
Method
  1. Prepare the cleaning trolley with all necessary supplies, ensuring colour-coded cloths and mops are used.
  2. Dust all surfaces using a damp microfibre cloth to capture dust and prevent dispersal.
  3. Sanitise high-touch surfaces with an approved disinfectant, allowing appropriate contact time for effectiveness.
  4. Mop the floor using a two-bucket system to ensure clean water is used throughout the process.
  5. Empty rubbish bins, replace liners, and sanitise the bin interior and exterior.
  6. Clean sinks with a non-abrasive cleaner, ensuring all residue is removed, and sanitise taps and surrounding surfaces.

Quality Criteria
Performance LevelCriteria

GoodSurfaces are mostly clean with minimal dust. High-touch areas are sanitised with minor streaks. Floors are clean with slight water marks. No strong odours present. Rubbish bins are clean with minor marks.
PassSurfaces have some dust. High-touch areas are sanitised but with visible streaks. Floors have visible water marks. Mild odours present. Rubbish bins are mostly clean.
FailSurfaces are dusty. High-touch areas are not properly sanitised. Floors are dirty with water marks. Strong odours present. Rubbish bins are dirty and unsanitised.
Documentation
  • Cleaning Checklist: Digital or paper checklist to verify completion of all cleaning tasks
  • Incident Reports: Documentation of any cleaning-related incidents, spills, or issues encountered
  • Maintenance Records: Record any maintenance needs identified during cleaning (for reporting to maintenance team)
