Objective
To ensure the Battery Room is maintained in a clean and safe condition, minimising hazards and adhering to Australian cleaning standards.
Scope of Work
- Dust all surfaces, including shelves and equipment.
- Sanitise all high-touch surfaces, including door handles and switches.
- Mop floors with appropriate cleaning solution to remove dirt and spills.
- Empty rubbish bins and replace liners.
- Inspect and clean ventilation grilles to ensure dust-free airflow.
- Wipe down walls and remove any visible stains or marks.
- Ensure all cleaning activities comply with relevant safety protocols for handling chemicals in battery environments.
Method
- Prepare the cleaning trolley with all necessary equipment and supplies, ensuring colour-coded cloths are used for different areas.
- Dust all surfaces using a microfibre cloth, starting from the highest point and working downwards.
- Sanitise high-touch surfaces with an approved disinfectant, allowing appropriate contact time.
- Mop the floor using a wet mop and a suitable cleaning solution, ensuring no excess water is left on the floor.
- Empty rubbish bins, replace liners, and dispose of waste according to facility protocols.
- Clean ventilation grilles with a vacuum or damp cloth to remove dust build-up.
- Wipe down walls with a damp cloth, focusing on areas with visible stains or marks.

Pass | Noticeable dust on some surfaces; floors have visible streaks; faint odours present; high-touch surfaces are partially sanitised; visible dust on ventilation grilles. |
Fail | Significant dust and stains on surfaces; floors are dirty or wet; strong odours present; high-touch surfaces are not sanitised; heavy dust on ventilation grilles. |
Documentation
- Cleaning Checklist: Digital or paper checklist to verify completion of all cleaning tasks
- Incident Reports: Documentation of any cleaning-related incidents, spills, or issues encountered
- Maintenance Records: Record any maintenance needs identified during cleaning (for reporting to maintenance team)
