Objective

Ensure the compactor area is maintained in a clean and hygienic condition, minimising risks associated with waste handling and ensuring compliance with Australian workplace health and safety standards.

Scope of Work
  • Remove all visible rubbish and debris from the compactor area.
  • Sweep and mop the floor using appropriate cleaning agents.
  • Sanitise all touchpoints, including control panels and handles.
  • Wipe down external surfaces of the compactor with a damp cloth.
  • Ensure all rubbish bins are emptied and cleaned.
  • Check for and remove any unpleasant odours.
Method
  1. Begin by wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves and safety goggles.
  2. Use a broom to sweep the entire floor area, collecting debris into a dustpan and disposing of it in the designated rubbish bin.
  3. Prepare a mop bucket with a suitable cleaning solution and mop the floor, ensuring all areas are covered.
  4. Use a sanitising spray and cloth to clean all touchpoints, ensuring thorough coverage.
  5. Wipe down the external surfaces of the compactor with a damp cloth to remove dust and grime.
  6. Empty all rubbish bins, replace liners, and clean the bins with a disinfectant spray.
  7. Use an odour neutraliser if necessary to ensure the area is free from unpleasant smells.
